Nail Stamping Art

This simple greeting was made using nail stamping technique. Dipped a nail in water color and stamped it on paper to create flowers.

You can use different colors to create multicolored flowers and other patterns. Make a statement with minimal effort.

My First Madhubani Painting (Completed)

"Waiting for you..."

Madhubani art is done either in black and white or in vibrant colors now a days. The outlining of design in Madhubani painting normally has double lines which are filled tiny straight lines or crosses.  I will make my next Madhubani art in vibrant colors. One thing to be remembered while coloring is that the colors should come flat on the surface, no shading required.

My First Madhubani Painting (In Progress)

Madhubani is a style of traditional folk painting from the villages around the area of Madhubani and Mithila in northern Bihar, India. Legend has it that Madhubani painting originated in the time recorded in the Ramayan, the ancient Sanskrit epic, when artists were commissioned by King Janak to create these paintings to celebrate the marriage of Sita and Lord Rama. Madhubani paintings were originally wall murals but are now found on paper, cloth and canvas as well. Madhubani paintings have traditionally been done by women.

I wanted to start doing Madhubani paintings from a long time. Here I am sharing a sketch (in progress) of my first Madhubani Painting:
